language acquisition "Acquisition requires meaningful interaction in the target language - natural communication in which speakers are concerned not with form of their utterences, but with the messages they are conveying and understanding." Stephen Krashen
Comprehensible input_ (Click to read article)
Comprehensible is language input that can be understood by listeners despite them not understanding all the words and structures in it. It is described as one level above that of the learners if it can only just be understood. According to Stephen Krashen's theory of language acquisition, giving learners this kind of input helps them to acquire language naturally, rather than learn it consciously.
When ACQUIRING another language:
First we learn to LISTEN
We learn to READ what we've heard.
We learn to WRITE
what we we've read and heard.
FINALLY,
We SPEAK because
we've heard, read, and written it!

We learn to READ what we've heard.
We learn to WRITE
what we we've read and heard.

We SPEAK because
we've heard, read, and written it!
